A Place Called Home by David Ambroz
Book Club Discussion Outline — CASA Edition
Before You Begin
A brief note for your group: this memoir is told largely in present tense, placing readers inside David's experience as a child rather than from a safe, retrospective distance. It's immersive and often hard to read. Encourage members to come ready to sit with discomfort, and to give themselves permission to feel what comes up.
For CASA volunteers and staff, this book may mirror stories you've encountered in your own work. That proximity can be both meaningful and heavy. Give space for that in your discussion.
